Of course I can help, lets send it together! Where do you want to go do? As been mentioned before, the Algarve is a pretty wild place with a great variety of waves. Interestingly enough most of the time not really beginner friendly conditions. Yet there are a ton of surfschools. So back to the question, what is it you want to send it on. Bigger waves, more hollow waves, you tell me and we go search for it. All of it is a good answer too. Enjoy how we get this guy over the ledge and of course sneak a few ourself. Left or Right
Surfing beachbreaks most of the time shapes you to be pretty good in both. Sometimes when you look at pro surfers growing up on a point break, their style really leans to this kind of surfing. Not to say they are not also very good in the other breaks. Being goofy or regular also makes a difference. Creating speed is easier on the frontside where turns often feel a little easier on the backside. We starting off at probably the longest wave in the Algarve, a left hand point break. Fun conditions to start off with but with every set it gets more busy and the tide filling in making the wave more muchy. Its time to go to the beach break and think about that sending part a bit more.
All for the vision
Every surfer dreams of it, and only a few really get to enjoy it, barrels. Tubes, barrels, green room, there are a 101 names for the magic moment inside the wave. Time seems to slow down, all is perfect for just a split second. Until you are flat on your back getting pushed a mix of sand and water in all the openings of your body and wetsuit. Little secret here, you have to get in first to come out. So our motto is, try to get in and get used to the steep take-off and generating speed from the get go. *Or slow down, depending on the wave. After you get familiar with this type of conditions your confidence will grow and so does your make rate. During this session we both got to enjoy the vision a good number of times.
