Californian dreaming on the west coast with surf guide algarve
‘‘Like Lower Tressles but without the crowds!‘‘ comments our guest jokingly after yet another ride. Mother ocean showing her pretty side these days. Sunny, soft offshore breeze and small swell. Surf Guide Algarve does the rest. Joined by some returning guests and new one we mixing a couple of adventures in one story. All on the West Coast and all in more or less similar conditions. Old guys rule
‘‘How old are you?- a question I liked to answer before with 14, yet when the joke was not working anymore cause people probably assume I said 40 I stopped doing that. Luckily surfing over many other sports, you can actually keep progressing on a little older age. Technique and ocean knowledge come with time and with more years on the clock, also more sessions. Today the Surf Guide Algarve crew is joined by two 56 year old surfers. A Californian dude still ripping a shortboard and a German Lady who keeps progressing on her midlength. Never ever trust the forecast
By and large we are scoring a lot of fun surfs in a row without any people in the water. Often times thinking a little bit outside the box works here. Plus, never ever trust the forecast. Some beaches are just true swell magnets and with the right tide you really do not need a lot to get super fun waves. From time to time even we get surprised, today we get surprised by a totally over delivering ocean at Bordeira. Long waves with a bit of shoulder, almost no one in the water.
