Happy New Year, A very good start with Surf Guide Algarve

On a mission
Huge swell, strong offshore wind and an official code Orange. Today might be a good day to chill. Unless you wanna go a bit crazy of course. One of our surf buddies is keen for a mission, ‘I can pick you up in the whip bro!‘ *The whip is an absolute classic of a 4×4, ready for whatever you throw it at. And we need it. Rain coming at us horizontal and the road to the beach becomes a true track. Mother ocean looks similar, huge scary lumps of water crossing the bay. Some smaller sets wrap in creating what seems to be surfable waves. Roaring rips, freaky close out sets, positioning nearly impossible. Luckily I have a new stepup from the gibsons and we both manage to get some diamonds in the rough.
Perfection, it happens...
Roll the dice often enough and eventually you throw six. While in surfing the dice sometimes seems to be broken, it does sometimes perfect. Burgau usually is flat, but when there are waves its always friendly and soft. Good for our surf guide algarve crew armed with a two ladies on malibu surfboards. Instantly we see that the ocean has other plans today. Perfect waves hitting the reef on the right side, even creating barrels. Left from it is a more mellow sand bar, creating good waves for all levels. Timing is perfect too, as its the birthday of one of our surf buddies living right at that beach. Sing him a birthday song and give him a wave report, with the urgent words to Hurry the F up…
Time for Beliche
Arguably the most crowded spot in the region, Beliche. Yet for very good reason. During the Christmas holiday busy even in the earliest moments of the day. Most people are back at work now so maybe it is more quiet. Sheltered from the stormy north wind surf guide algarve and crew scores again.
