Epic sessions with Surf Guide Algarve at the end of the world, Tonel
Sagres, the end of the world, just like any other beach town in my opinion. Different from most other beach towns is that Sagres offers a couple of surf spots very close to each other. Paddle out from hell
Waves are firing, but that comes with a price. Tonel is a beach break, and for some reason the channel is not really working today. Our Surf Guide vip- charger- guest is ready for the challenge. Plan B is to go to Beliche, but if you do not gamble you will never win. Poor dude spends 45 minutes paddling against the strong waves. Luckily he uses this only for fuel, to go extra hard the next session. Next day the swell has dropped and he gets ‘‘one of the best sessions of my life‘‘ his words.
Almost perfect
Offshore wind, zero crowds and very good waves, almost perfect. Tonel probably gets real perfect only a handful times per year. Obviously these days are super busy and with the conditions as they are now *not easy! we get the place solo. Personally I much prefer not-perfect, but empty. Over ‘‘perfect‘‘ and packed. Honestly I think the Algarve is just too hard to surf for most people to ever become really busy. Perfect timing and local knowledge are key to score. Plus a good dose of fitness and skill.
