Surf Guide Algarve sharing special waves with special people
Travelling for thousands of kilometers, sometimes from all the way of the other side of the ocean, just to be ridden the last few meters. Waves are special in any form. For us surfers they get a lot more interesting when they hit a sandbar at a good angle. Shaping a broken and unbroken surface that we like to ride. Numbers of people dedicating their lives to chase just short moments gliding down a wave face. It takes also a special kind of people to do this. With Surf Guide Algarve we are not interested in big numbers of people. Connecting with some likeminded souls and really share the experience that is what we are after. West coast baby
West Coast just hits different. First and foremost, there is a lot more space. Whenever there are conditions that favour the west, crowds spread out. Versus swells for the South that sometimes leaves people no choice but surf all on a few smaller beaches. Second, the west coast waves are real open ocean waves. Swell hitting directly, so even a ‘small‘ looking forecast often results in a head high surf. Today we surf an empty sand bar somewhere on the west coast. As often, not easy to find the good ones, yet o-so-worth it when you get one.
Level up
Sessions like the one above are super nice. In fact, I would sign up for that wave every day of the week. But what is waiting for us the next day is from a whole other caliber. Level up. Waves really firing over a shallow sand bar, sun hitting the water at such a dramatic angle it looks more like the tropics. Algarve has many different moods but this one you do not see very often.
