Epic surfing adventures with the Surf Guide Algarve OG crew
Original Gangsters, but then in the most positive way possible. Time really flies when you are having fun, and that we know how to make fun, that is for sure. Nine years have passed since our first session. Surf Guide Algarve is born, and fast forward till today, the boys still come back every year. *One of them actually multiple times. Special people make special adventures. Even mother ocean joins in for this one. Firework on the first days of the trip followed by more mellow / fun surf later in the week. Epic surfing adventures with the OG crew, enjoy the full story.
Lets start with the desert
Usually we like to safe the best for last. Obviously we are dealing with mother ocean, and she simply hates planning even more then that we do. So, we go with the flow and gear up for what will be the heaviest session in a while. Punta Ruiva throwing serious barrels on a very shallow sandbar. Only ones out and waves that just keep coming. As a Surf Guide I know really well where my limits are and when I go over them. Today I stay in the water too long and simply go a little too hard. Hitting my head hard on the board on the classic ‘one more wave‘. Rattled and a few days headache but it could obviously be a lot worse… Play with fire and you burn your hands eventually!
Time for more mellow waves
Right now we are in the first days of May. Funky times wave wise, you can get absolutely barreled the one day and need your groveller the next. Literally this week. From pumping waves we go to a very mediocre forecast. Luckily there is not a lot of wind and we find a super fun bank at Cordoama that actually works really good with a bit of offshore.
Dear mother ocean, can we have one more?
There will always be the next wave… But somehow the last surf session feels extra important. Walking away with a happy feeling, sore shoulders and somewhat sad to go. Only to come back soon. Boys have one more session to surf, with a very iffy looking forecast again. Mother ocean really over producing and we will 100% need to do a couple of beach cleanups to make up for Karma points that we used on this one. Amado is not our go-to guiding spot. Main reason is that it is usually very busy. Early bird catching the wave and we really score a super fun session with only us on the peak. Almost could not wish for a better way to end the magic run with the OG crew.
