May is a bit of a funny month, it really is not yet summer… Yet it really isnt winter anymore either. Cold mornings followed by hot afternoons, also the waves do not really know how to act. You can totally score or really get skunked… Possibly this is why not so many people seem to book a surf trip to the Algarve in May. But if you do…you can surf spots with no one out, or at least with very other surfers around. At least, when you know where to go… Surf Guide Algarve is joined by one of our many times returning guests and we score super fun empty lineups day after day. Tell me one thing better then sharing a lineup with one other person? Clearly the waves can get better, but mornings just wont. Everything is just right and it feels almost like a dream to experience this a couple of days in a row. Combining a bit of local knowledge with a lot of stoke and the result is clear.
Guests and friends
Whenever you experience these kind of pretty special moments with someone, it creates a connection. Our very private setup clearly is not built for the masses. Rather one dude/girl that keeps coming back then 19 others. before, after and during the sessions we built up a relationship with our guests. Knowing what type of waves you prefer and what maybe scares you and why makes a huge difference in the experience. In the end of the story we actually have a whole large crew of people that feel more like friends than guests. That this dude feels the same is clear.
