Summertime is here. High temperatures, and unfortunately, not the best waves. At the same time, most people that come here for surfing are not here right now. Resulting in mostly empty beaches. And obviously we can not make good waves, Surf Guide Algarve knows where to find the best ones available! Private beaches please!
Whenever we are surfing we are only spending a very short amount of time actually standing up on the board. Only a surfer knows the feeling… That feeling when you rock up on a spot with absolutely no one around. Waxing up your surfboard, smelling the fresh salty air. Algarve owns some of the most pretty beaches in the world *at least we think so. If you get one empty the morning is already a success before we even get wet. During these more tricky summer days its actually not rare to score the places for ourselves.
The longest left in the region
Seventy to eighty percent of the surf breaks in the world are beach breaks. Only five to eight percent are point breaks. Points are in general easier to surf and often also longer then beaches. Mainly positioning is a lot easier on a point. Downside of the point is that it can not handle too much people. To surf a point break you need to really play by the rules and wait for your turn. Today there is not much waiting do. We score a perfect window where the wind is not yet awake and we get Punta Ruiva all solo. Long easy left handers connecting all the way to the beach. Offering 150 plus long rides. Amazing to stand that long on a surfboard sometimes!
