A teaser of September, surfing adventure with Surf Guide Algarve
Even with the glass always half full, this summer so far is pretty crap. Surfwise that is, cause even when the waves are not always epic, Algarve still remains paradise. Like every summer Surf Guide Algarve enterprise is a little less busy. More solo sessions, just to cool down after a long, hot, sticky day. Or just to start the day with a smile. Whenever the wind finally turns favourable and there is a little bit of swell there are luckily still a couple of VIP guests to share the sessions with. In this story we share two sessions with a semi-local dude. Living here, really putting in the time to progress his surfing game. A guide is not a coach
Often times people mix these two terms. No surprise I guess. Whats really important for me could mean nothing to you. Yet it is good to know what it is on your side in the lineup. As a surfguide I stoke you up, share the session with you and that is basically it. Obviously you can position yourself close to where the guide sits… Need feedback after you catch a wave? Want to know how to get better quicker? Hire a surf coach! He will dedicate his time to help you improve faster. Personally I think many people are not surfing to improve, they just do it to have a good time. Paying a lot of money to a surf coach who is watching and criticising you all session also puts a lot of pressure on you and your session. For many not always so enjoyable.
At the right tide at the right spot
Tides, wind, swell and last but not least, crowds. Interestingly enough you can not park your car at any beach from around 10 o clock onwards. Peak summer is the time for holiday people. By and large the majority of the people just enjoys to go to the beach, eat sandy snacks and burn. Thank whoever is on top of that cloud they do not all surf do. Team surf guide algarve just making sure we avoid the madness and wake up early. Castelejo has the best waves today. Rising sun, the iconic rock, fun glassy waves, no one out.
