Step Out of your Comfort zone Surfing with Surf Guide Algarve
Together with the fact that most visiting surfers never seen the spots we surf, the conditions can sometimes be challenging as well. Obviously it depends where you are from, but in general the ocean in Portugal is known to be pretty powerful. Most of the surf spots break over sand, but rocks are often close. With this in mind it is a good idea to book a surf guide. Surf Guide Algarve will bring you to the best waves for your level. This weekend we step out of our own comfort zone and take a little tour to the Alentejo. In the first place this is not a hard-core surf mission, but the surfboard is strapped on the roof and we are very close to the sea… Once back home in Vila do Bispo we have a surfer from Finland waiting, very stoked to surf with us. Can someone please help find me some waves?
In this situations the roles are switched. As soon as we arrive in Vila nova de Milfontes it is clear that this is nothing like the Algarve. By all means there are waves. Secondly, it is even offshore. There are a few surf shops but most of them closed for the winter. Luckily there are a couple of surf schools so we send them a message if they can help find us a wave for the next day. Surprisingly only two of the 5 reply and both can only assist with a beginner lesson. We are on our own. To repeat, this is not a surf mission. But it would be nice to get a few waves after all this afford. Finally some good info from a friend and we find some local surfers on the carpark of a local harbour. Super welcoming Portruguese dudes, we share a fun reef-point break style wave until the tide gets too high. In the meantime the girls get some breakfast and make plans for the rest of the day.
Finland surfer vibes
Without a doubt, our little trip was incredible. Obviously it is nice to be back home as well. Straightaway we have a dude from Finland ready to share some moving salt water. Challenging conditions but we find some fun waves at Ingrina. Surely the waves can be better but you can not beat the vibes of this guy. Looking forward for more surfers from Finland!
